Cat and Dog Theology

Have you heard of cat and dog theology?  It's not really about animals...  It's really about how relationships with God can be related to how cats and dogs treat their owners.

A dog says, "You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, you must be my master."
A cat says, "You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, I must be your master."

Our relationship with God is related to this.  Christians will either be a dog, a cat, or have a little of both.  A cat Christian will see themselves as the main subject in life.  A dog Christian will see God as the main subject.  Let's look at some differences...

FOCUS:

CATS
They look at heaven and say, "I want to go there.  I don't want to go to hell."  They move away from hell, but their main focus is on hell.  They are really moving backwards facing hell.

DOGS
They look at heaven and say, "I want to go there.  God is there."  They are also moving away from hell, but their main focus is on heaven.  They are moving forward.

PRAYER:

CATS
They pray in this order:
1. Blessings
2. God's Glory

DOGS
They pray in this order:
1. God's Glory
2. Blessings

WORSHIP:

CATS
They worship God for what He has done for them, and then for who He is.

DOGS
They worship God for who He is, and then for what He has done for them.

In truth, God didn't send His Son to die on the cross only for us.  He did it for God's glory.  We should all live for God's glory!
